From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the party enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
